Achene mucilage content of six Turkish endemic Tripleurospermum (Asteraceae) taxa and its ecological significance

In this study, the achene mucilage content of six Turkish endemic Tripleurospermum taxa, namely T. baytopianum E. Hossain, conoclinium (Boiss. & Bal.) Hayek, fissurale (Sosn.) hygrophilum (Bornm.) Bornm., rosellum Orph.) Hayek var. album Hossain and ziganaense Inceer Hayirlioglu-Ayaz was determined by micro-staining reactions. Within examined cells on surface are capable forming a musilage envelope resembling gel during hydration. The is heterogeneous chemically contains pectin cellulose. There differences in capacities as well adhesive to soil achenes studied taxa. could have great importance distribution adaptation taxa diverse environments.
